Thought provoking...

I was reading in James the other night, and came across this verse. I must say- when I read it I was stunned. I guess I've just never thought of how we praise God with our tongue, then turn around and curse the people who have been made in the image of God. It really made me think about things. Just thought I'd share. :)

James 3:8-10

New International Version (NIV)
8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.  9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

This verse from James have always made me think too. I've given up complaining for Lent, and I was surprised by how hard it is. I didn't think I complained much - I really thought I was someone who spoke more praise...but I've found out differently! Giving up complaining has been a great blessing, and a wonderful opportunity. Thank you for reminding me of this verse - it's a real encouragement to me to keep on only speaking praise! I'm visiting from Happy in Dole Valley - it's nice to 'meet' you :)
